南三陸杉（ミナミサンリクスギ）
産地；宮城県南三陸町
仙台藩主の伊達政宗公が仙台城の大橋を作るときに南三陸杉を選んだという記録が残されています。淡いピンク色と白のコントラストが美しく「美人杉」ともいわれています。
年間降水量が少なく岩盤の上に育つため、目が細かく強くて丈夫であるため、建材としても家具としても重宝されています。
精油にはセドロールといわれる成分が含まれ、睡眠効果や鎮静作用、リラックス効果、防虫効果や抗菌作用があります。

Minamisanriku Cedar
Origin: Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture
There are historical records stating that when Masamune Date, the lord of Sendai Domain, built the Ōhashi Bridge of Sendai Castle, he chose Minamisanriku cedar. Its subtle pink and white contrast are beautiful, earning it the nickname “Bijin-sugi” (Beautiful Woman Cedar).
Because it grows on rocky terrain with low annual rainfall, its grain is fine, strong, and durable, making it highly valued for both building materials and furniture.
Its essential oil contains a component called cedrol, which has sleep-promoting, calming, and relaxing effects, as well as insect-repelling and antibacterial properties.
