その為、中尊寺金色堂や掛川城、出雲大社にも使われています。
抽出したオイルは虫よけだけでなく、火傷や傷や皮膚病にも効くとされ注目されている銘木の一つです。

Aomori Cypress
Origin: Aomori Prefecture (Prefectural Tree)
Aomori Cypress is the prefectural tree of Aomori Prefecture. Along with Akita Cedar and Kiso Hinoki, it is known as one of Japan’s three most beautiful forests. In 1901 (Meiji 34), Shizuroku Honda, Japan’s first forestry scholar, discovered that the Cypress from Aomori differs from Cypress from other prefectures.
The Cypress contains hinokitiol, which not only gives it a pleasant fragrance but is also said to be effective against bacteria, mold, insects, and mosquitoes. Because of these qualities, it has been used in historical buildings such as Chūson-ji’s Konjikidō, Kakegawa Castle, and Izumo Taisha.
Extracted Cypress oil is valued not only as an insect repellent but also for its potential benefits for burns, wounds, and skin conditions, making it a highly regarded timber.
