The term “Eight Delicacies” signifies the finest quality fruits, which were famous as offerings to the shogunate and as luxury gifts.
As a timber, chestnut wood contains a high amount of tannin, giving it excellent insect-repellent, anti-decay, and highly durable properties. It is also prized for its beautiful grain and stability after drying, making it a first-class material.
