MINAMIKAWACHII Japanese Cedar
南河内杉（ミナミカワチスギ）
産地；大阪府
南河内杉は300年の歴史があり、現在もその林業としての営みは続いています。
金剛山・大和葛城山・岩湧山に連なる地域で、大和川の支流・石川の源流域に位置され、
木目がまっすぐで、切り口が真円に近く、年輪も均一。やわらかい薄桜色の色味と、粘りがあり丈夫なので、建築材に適しています。
EXPO2025大阪・関西万博のウズベキスタンパビリオンにもこの南河内杉が採用されました。
大阪府をあげて「大阪の木を使おう」という取り組みを行っている大阪を代表する銘木のひとつです。

MINAMIKAWACHII Japanese Cedar
Origin: Osaka Prefecture
Minamikawachii cedar has a history of over 300 years, and forestry in the region continues to this day. It grows in the area that connects Mount Kongō, Mount Yamato-Katsuragi, and Mount Iwawaki, located in the headwaters of the Ishikawa River, a tributary of the Yamato River.
This cedar is characterized by its straight grain, nearly circular cross-section, and uniform growth rings. Its soft, pale cherry-colored wood is both flexible and durable, making it ideal for use in construction.
Minamikawachii cedar was also selected for use in the Uzbekistan Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka–Kansai. It is one of Osaka’s representative timbers, promoted under the prefecture-wide initiative “Let’s Use Osaka Wood.”
