会津は桜が有名で会津五桜と呼ばれる桜の名所があるほど桜を愛する地域です。
福島県の県木。
桜は日本を代表する木ですが、会津もまた戊辰戦争で日本史が大きく変わった場所です。16～17歳で構成された少年藩士白虎隊は有名で、新選組の斎藤一の墓や、近藤勇の供養碑も残され、幕末史が好きな人には欠かせない地域です。
会津藩に伝わる武士道精神文化は今も受け継がれており、会津人は正義感にあふれ誠実で曲がったことが嫌いで頑固といわれています。
「什の掟（じゅうのおきて）」という会津魂を物語る上で欠かせない「ならぬものはならぬもの」という道徳規範があります。

AIZU Sakura
Origin: Fukushima Prefecture
Aizu is renowned for its cherry blossoms, so much so that the region is home to the “Five Famous Aizu Cherry Blossoms” (Aizu Gozakura). Interestingly, cherry blossoms are also the prefectural tree of Fukushima. While cherry blossoms symbolize Japan as a whole, Aizu is also a place where Japanese history shifted dramatically during the Boshin War. The Byakkotai, a group of young samurai aged just 16–17, is widely known. The region also preserves the grave of Hajime Saitō of the Shinsengumi and a memorial monument for Isami Kondō, making it an essential destination for those interested in late-Edo history.
The spirit of Bushidō handed down by the Aizu domain is still deeply rooted today. People of Aizu are said to be filled with a strong sense of justice, to be sincere, uncompromising, and often regarded as stubborn. A famous moral code expressing the Aizu spirit is the “Jū no Okite” (The Ten Rules), which includes the uncompromising teaching: “What must not be done, must not be done.”
